Tak Tsun (Edmund) LO is a final-year PhD student (Radboud University, the Netherlands) and a registered clinical psychologist (Hong Kong). He is available for a postdoc position.
He presents his paper that tests the Evolutionary Theory of Loneliness, which states that momentarily feeling lonely, and the depressed feelings that follow, can be adaptive. This pre-registered study, currently under review, analyzes loneliness and depressive symptoms reported by the same adolescents across half-yearly (N = 774) and hourly (n_subsample = 84) timescales. Findings suggest that feeling depressed shortly after loneliness may protect adolescents from having long-term loneliness.
